Corrections Policy — Mauritius Pulse News
Mauritius Pulse News aims to be accurate, fair and transparent. When we get something wrong we correct it promptly and clearly. Minor edits for grammar, formatting or style may be made silently; substantive factual errors, omissions or material clarifications will be corrected as described below.
How readers can report errors
Please report errors by: - Emailing: [email protected] - Or submitting the issue via our contact form: https://mauritiuspulsenews.com/contact/
When contacting us, include the article URL, the date of publication (if known), a clear description of the issue, any supporting sources or documents, and a way we can reach you for follow-up. We do not publish personal contact details you supply to us without your consent.
Internal review process
- Acknowledgement — We aim to acknowledge receipt within one business day.
- Assignment — A senior editor reviews the report and assigns a reviewer or investigative editor.
- Verification — The reviewer checks original sourcing, recordings, documents and notes, and consults the reporter and editor who worked on the story.
- External checks — Where appropriate we contact quoted sources, subjects of the story, or independent experts to verify facts.
- Legal/safety review — Matters involving legal risk or personal safety are expedited and reviewed with legal counsel as needed.
- Decision — The editor determines whether to: - Correct the article, - Publish a clarification, - Retract or remove content (only in narrow circumstances, e.g., legal requirement or immediate safety risk), - Or take no action (with explanation to the complainant).
- Documentation — We record the finding, actions taken and timestamps for internal audit.
Where corrections appear
- The original article will be updated and will carry a visible correction note describing what changed, why, and when. Correction notes are placed at the top or bottom of the article depending on context, so readers see them in relation to the story.
- Significant corrections will also be summarized on this corrections page.
- When feasible, we will issue corrections or clarifications across platforms where the original story ran (social media, newsletters).
Timelines
- Acknowledgement: within 1 business day.
- Typical resolution: 3–7 business days.
- Urgent legal/safety matters: within 24 hours where possible. If a matter requires longer investigation we will update the person who reported it with an expected timetable.
We value accuracy and the public record. Corrections help maintain trust in our reporting and in the public conversation in Mauritius.
